A beautiful new short story for World Book Day 2021, from the bestselling author of Where the River Runs Gold.
Immy has always loved wild swimming; one day, she hopes to become a marine biologist. Tomorrow is the first step towards that goal – completing her entry level diving certificate.
But her plans for a good night’s sleep are ruined by a strange and vivid dream of a distressed whale in the river. At school she tries to shake it off, but discovers that her nightmare has leaked into reality.
Immy and her trusty friend Cosmo must head for the Thames on a mission to save the trapped river whale. Can Immy use her skills to release it from the rubbish-filled nets it’s caught in and guide it home?
Told in a mixture of free verse and prose, this is the beautiful new short adventure from Sita Brahmachari.

I liked the book but I found it a bit hard to understand where the story was taking place because it was constantly changing setting.
Good and dreamy
This book is all about has Immy she always loved wild swimming and one day, she hopes to become a marine biologist. Very nice and same interest as of mine.
This book is a fiction book about a boy called Joseph. Joseph has a lot of dreams about the sea but then he has a dream about a whale thats in a river. It is a fiction book/ My favourite character is Joseph because had loads of dreams. I would recommend this book to others because it is very exciting and it is very funny. Joseph has three friends. one of them is called Max, one of them is called Sam and the other one is called Betty. I really liked this book because it is very explorative. Such as when Joseph explored the other river and found a whale with glowing eyes and patterns. This was my favourite part in the book.
I liked it because there was a kid who had a dream about a whale but then the dream came true.
lot of similies at least one in every 3 pages would fiction book very intriguing very suspensive
good book whale does not live in river but a fictionative book on a whale that lives in a river
I liked this book because it was all about underwater imagery. My favourite character was Rubey the cat and I also liked how they wrote differently to other authors.
This book will show you how dangerous plastic is and how it harms animals.
Good
This book is about a girl Immy who really likes whales. She had a bad dream about a whale getting trapped by rubbish people have thrown in the sea. When she wakes up she finds out that her bad dream has come true. Immy has an adventure to help to save the whale.
It was a very good book where a girl called Immy had a dream about a whale being trapped in the River Thames and when she woke up she found out that there is actually a whale trapped in the river. Although the beginning is a little strange, the book is much better towards the end.
Immy’s dream was to be a marine biologist. This booked showed that it is important to believe in yourself!
This book was a lot of fun to read.
This book was about two people dreaming about diving with a whale, and then they actually got to rescue a whale.
It felt good because it was poetry
A girl called Immy had a dream about a whale in a river and it came true when she found out some people had found a whale in a river. I enjoyed it because I like animals. And the front cover is nice.
It was really good.
I read the whale obviously was In a river.
It was fiction and my favorite person was defently the girl.
And I would recommend it to someone else!
I like how they put the senteces disorted or made them fancy or made the page dark
Immy loves swimming in water. She got adopted a year ago. One day, she couldn’t sleep without Usha, her sister. She had a dream and it comes true. She saves a whale who is in trouble. That whale was a humpback. It was caught within. It was in the river. Luckily she saved the humpback whale.
