The breathtaking adventure continues in the sequel to the much-loved Orphans of the Tide.

Orphans Ellie and Seth have crossed an endless ocean in search of freedom and peace.

Arriving on the shores of a colourful tropical island ruled by a mysterious queen, it seems they might just have found the perfect new home.

But there is trouble brewing in paradise and soon Ellie and Seth find themselves caught up in a dangerous struggle for power – and forced to confront terrible truths from their past . . .

Praise for Orphans of the Tide:

‘Unputdownable’ – Times

‘Enthralling’ – Daily Express

‘Sumptuously atmospheric . . . tirelessly inventive’ – Daily Telegraph

Was just as good as its prequal, maybe even better. My favourite moment was when the queen revealed herself to Ellie. I think how Sam's and Ellie's friendship not being perfect is what ties it together. I could recommend this to keen readers who like longer books rather than thin, picture books.

Worse than orphans of the tide but good still

It was fun to read. There was a lots of drama and at the end Ellie practically fell in love with Seth.
My favourite character is Ellie because she could make a lot more inventions than in the last book.

I would highly recommend this book.

Loved every scene of this. Every part was engaging and mysterious.
I really liked the part where we find out that Kate isn't really the Vessel and how people an be so cruel just to be in power.

I had pre-ordered this sequel after enjoying Orphans of the Tide so much. It didn’t disappoint at all. There are so many twists and turns and just the right amount of tension to increase your pulse rate a bit and make you gasp! I think this will be whisked off my bookshelf!

A great sequel to Orphans of the Tide. Ellie and Seth continue their journey but face new dangers alongside dangers from their past.
Struan Murray has continued to develop Ellie and Seth's relationship by adding in new characters who, at times, challenge their friendship.
Would recommend to our P6/7 pupils who enjoy adventure books.

A great sequel to Orphans of the Tide.

I was enthralled by the first book in this trilogy - it was such a breath-taking ride. This second instalment is equally praiseworthy and full of dramatic, suspenseful moments that leave you desperate to find out what happens next to the main protagonists. It feels a little darker than Orphans of the Tide at times, so is probably best suited to upper key stage 2.
The ending was a bit of a surprise but I won't say anything else about that!

Magical and a story with a twist.

A fantastic continuation of Orphans of the Tide. This book was every bit as gripping as the first and it was brilliant to be back with the characters again. The storyline was gripping and the new characters introduced added a great dimension.

This is the second book in the Orphans of the Tide series and it didn’t disappoint. The story is an adventure and the characters are so interesting. My favourite is Seth. I think this is quite a complex plot but one that keeps you wanting to know more. I finished the book this afternoon and it ended with a major cliffhanger. I immediately went to look for the next book but it’s not out until next year!
