The four Story children were disinherited by their mother with a single sentence of explanation: “you know what you did.” However, none of them do. Years later, the three story grandchildren are invited to spend summer with their grandmother but when they get there she seems very surprised to see them. But if she didn’t invite them, who did…?

I loved it. I loved the part when Aubrey and Mille found out about Jonah's real identity. I would definitely recommend it to other mystery and crime readers. It was truly a really good book.

Milly and Aubrey were very interesting characters, and the twist with who Jonah really is was fascinating. Milly and Jonah have a connection that I spent hours thinking about.

Interesting book, with a great plot twist at the end. Mysterious and keeps you engaged into the plot. I recommend this to anyone who wants a mystery book.

I wanted to read One of Us is Lying but this title is constantly on loan to students so i thought i would try this one by the same author. Some plot twists throughout the book and it's definitely one you can't put down.

Another Karen M. McManus book, though this a stand-alone. Well written story, good characters and her usual twist towards the end. Aimed at the YA audience, I thinkist adults would enjoy her books, too. Recommended.

I thought this book was very gripping as I was hooked to every single chapter. It tells the misfortunes of the Story family and how the four Story siblings are suddenly disinherited and kicked out by their mother. Years later the next generation of the family return to the island with secrets to discover about their family's troubled past...
I recommend this book for crime lovers and adventure seekers.

Interesting, really liked it, but took forever for the person to die which was frustrating. Read this as like other books from that author.

I LOVED this book it was full of plot twists and mystery especially when I found out Jonah wasn't actually a Story but just someone pretending to be him for the money for his family. I was also shocked near the ending and I was happy when the family reunited. This book was amazing

I really thought that I was going to be underwhelmed by this book, but as it got going, I warmed to the characters and really wanted to know what was going to happen to them all!
The main characters are really well defined, and you get to know them really well, but where this book falls down a bit is with some of the peripheral (but still key to the plot) characters. There are 3 brothers/uncles who aren't very well described at the beginning and all have names beginning with the letter A - so when they became more embroiled in the story I struggled to remember which one was which.
However, the twists and Red Herrings are wonderful. I didn't expect the ending (and I'm usually very good at figuring endings out far too early).
A great book for young adults, with all the interactions between friends, parents, relatives. It addresses deceit, affection, attraction, bitterness and greed. After a rocky start, I was hooked.

An unputdownable book. A wealthy family with secrets. The four children are disinherited by their mother. Years later cousins Aubrey, Milly and Jonah are invited to meet their grandmother. They are determined to find out what happened all those years ago. They want to speak to their grandmother but she keeps disappearing. Bit by bit they find out more and more. A local turns out to be their Uncle Archer, and he tries to help - but he’s an alcoholic.
This book is well worth reading. I read it in 2 days - so would recommend it.
