When Dilly is born, her parents think she is perfect – from the top of her head to the bottom of her foot. The other babies notice that Dilly is different but soon accept her and love her different ways of doing things. The adults aren’t sure though – they love how all the penguins are the same. Can the younger generation convince their parents that there’s space for Dilly? And maybe that positive change can be a good thing?
A charming and touching story – Dilly is a delightful character with a strong voice and a great tale of acceptance and change. TweetReviews
Dilly saves the little penguins. I liked dilly because she is different. I would tell my friends to read this book.
Cool
I giggled a lot with this book. Especially when the penguin saw the aeroplane and went inside!
Lovely story with heartwarming message.
I really like reading this book is because this book is about a penguin who was born with one leg. The penguin name was Dilly who has one leg other penguins are watching and found something different and said that she was not like us. she can do everything and others are copping her.
Liked how she managed on her 1 leg and helped the others and still had fun
This is a nice story. I like that Dilly can do special things that her friends want to try too. And that she saves the day.
I thought the book would just be about a cuddly penguin but it was about a penguin who only had one leg. The other young penguins tried to copy Dilly and had lots of fun but the older parents weren't happy and complained about the penguin being different. They soon changed their attitude when Dilly came to the rescue.
I would recommend this book to a young child who can learn that it is okay to be different.
I like this story because Dilly was different and in the end she had a good time and got her happy ending
I liked that Dilly was different because she only had one foot. Everyone was happy in the end even if they were not all the same. She saved them all!
The story stimulated good discussion around difference, being yourself, and feeling proud.
I like this book because Dilly is cute and its about how being different is ok
I liked that she saved her friends.
Dilly is born with one foot. This doesn't matter to her as she finds her own way to join in with the other baby penguins. But when they start copying her - hopping and rolling instead of waddling - the adult penguins get worried and fear that Dilly is teaching their children odd things.
A lovely story about disability and acceptance with a rather cute penguin!
Picture book for under 8s.
