This is my favourite book and I read it so many times
In this book, it's a mix of factual and fiction. When a girl called Blue Wing hears two American tourists are coming over to see the island, she gets worried they will want to kill the sharks like all the other tourists. At first, the girls are too angry and upset to share secrets and become friends. But when Blue Wing finds out their name is Maple and her dad is a professor, she is forced to bond with them and help them in their search for ancestors' treasure.
This was a brilliant book. It had a wonderful message and a twist at the end. It was really calming to read. Beautiful landscape. Also, now I now a few words in papa new guinea longlong and numba tu
Great
My favorite character was Maple and my favourite part of the story was the end where you find out that Blue Wing is a ghost.
I absolutely loved this fiction book and would thoroughly recommend it. It is a beautiful story in a beautiful setting.
I learned so much about Papua New Guinea and what is important to its people. I enjoyed the use of so many authentic words.
It had me close to tears as times and is a book that will remain with me for quite some time.
I didn't enjoy the book as much beaucause there were a lot of words that you needed to look back on ,on the first page.
A beautifully written, entirely captivating story. I loved it from the very beginning. Clever, heartfelt, and utterly absorbing.
It is a amazing book because the sentences are very interesting and mysterious and I really like it.
It was pretty good. But they discarded the second mains gay potential and it was a bit too meaty for me
Magical, beautiful story that explores grief, different cultures and friendship.
Parts are complicated so more suitable for Year 6.

It was a very good read because it described landscape and creatures very well. I like how it uses other languages though out the story and that it focused on different perspectives and religions. I love the plot and how it was wonderfully brought together at the end. The way they used suspense to keep me interested was used very well.
A cool story with a nice plot twist
Very good! Set in Papua New Guinea. About the clash of cultures, friendship, loss, history, ghosts. And a surprising ending.
I like the shark caller because it is a good book because of the sharks It's also a good book because of the characters in this book

An amazing book it was an absolute thriller with an odd surprise at the end.
the shark caller is amazing because you can bascillay relate it to what happens in real life and the suprises you a lot
This is an evocative and emotional story describing the journey of Blue Wing as she takes ownership of a traumatic event in her past. The story gently deals with major issues such as grief, loss, friendship, fear and bravery. Bethel wraps the reader in the story's beautiful setting bringing Blue Wing's world to life while at the same time embracing Maple's journey through her unique story. The girls' stories are intertwined and complementary making this a magical book for KS2 readers to 90 year olds. I would heartily recommend this book.
Amazing with a very shocking ending

I think this book is really well written and is full of suprises especially the twist at the end. The book starts with a girl called Blue Wing who lives on an island in Papa New Guinia. An american girl arrives on the island. At first the girls hate each other but then become almost sisters at the end. Please read if you like book genres such as:

Desperate to become a shark caller to avenge the death of her parents, Blue Wing is instead charged with befriending infuriating newcomer Maple. At first they are angry and out of sync with the island and each other. But, can they overcome their differences and conquer the deadliest shark in the ocean?
I would recommend to ages 8 - 11 though I wouldn't bother reading it if you are a person who doesn't like reading through pages again and again. That's because some of it is written in the language Papa New Guinean, where it is set, and you will have to keep referring back to the first few pages.
Incredible storytelling - that surprise ending. The language transports you to a contrasting place. Superb read aloud in school.
This is a subtle, poignant book. It is a story of friendship, grief, family and acceptance. Beautiful! One o& m6 books of the year.
I would recommend this book to everyone. It's a beautiful story about sharks, island life and friendship! My favourite character was Blue wing.
