it was amazing
This book was because we had a class novel called the Clockwork crow and this was a sequel to The Clockwork crow. I wanted to know what happened after Seren arrived at plas-y- Fran so I took the books as soon as I saw in the library I'm not really into magic and mystical books but I quite like this book it had a hint of mystery and I like sort of solving the puzzles with Seren and the Crow. I still wonder will the fair family strike again…
My favoruite character was the Crow because he plays a big role in helping Seren, even though he is really annoying and thinks he is the best!
I would recommend this book to others.
This book had the same amamzing quality
ass the other one Catherine Fisher is an amzing author
I thought this was an excellent book. I selected it as it was the sequel of a book I had previously enjoyed and I was not disappointed! Seren, the central character, is engaged, once again, in protecting her home and loved ones from the 'The Family'. The story is engaging and the the reader is drawn into the magic of the Tylwyth Teg (Faery folk) and the Clockwork Crow.
This is a very exciting and exhilarating adventure. In seren's second adventure she and tomos are being penetrated by the family again. Can seren and crow take back tomos before its to late?
This was a great second book in this series. The governess certainly causes a storm when she arrives to teach Seren and Tomos. The clockwork crow returns once more. I really enjoyed the magical carousel idea with the characters coming to life. I would recommend this as a definite read! Cannot wait to read the third book in the trilogy.
loved The Clockwork Crow so was really looking forward to the second in the series - The Velvet Fox by @catherine_fisher_author and published by @fireflypress. Just look at that cover! Absolutely stunning by @anneglenndesign ❤️ There are some tense moments in this story for Seren and Tomos when Plas-y-Fran welcomes a creepy new governess. Is she all that she seems? And will the crow be able to save them? I simply adore the crow. He’s the perfect mix of wit and sarcasm and an absolute joy to read. I’m going straight into #3 - The Midnight Swan ❤️ #greatbooks #kidsbooks #kidsbookshelf #kidsbook #kidsbookstagram #kidsbookswelove #teachersthatread
A wonderful story based on welsh fairy tales and folk lore. Fabulous characters both fun and a bit scary. An all round enjoyable read.
A magical sequel to, The Clockwork Crow (which was one of the best read aloud books of 2020-21), Seren and Tomos find themselves with a mysterious new governess. Strange events at Plastic-y-Fran force the plucky Seren to call for the Crow for help.
Very well written, a mixture of Fairy tale, Welsh folklore and fantasy. I loved it! Fisher creates a world of magic and enchantment in which good always overcomes evil. Them.
Highly recommended
The second instalment which didn't disappoint. Seren and Crow have such great one liners, I thoroughly enjoyed their bickering at times.
Suitable for a strong Y4 reader.
Class read for Y3/4
One of the worst books I've ever read. Sorry Catherine !
It was good
The velvet book has mysteries inside, I like the mysteries as they are interesting. Miss Honeybourne has come to teach Tomos and Seren but she is working for Them (the tylwyth teg) It's up to Seren to save Plas y fran but the Velvet Fox awaits.
A sly tale of the courageous orphan Seren Rhys , second of two books.
The Velvet Fox is an action-packed and addictive book with its captivating plot and magnificent vocabulary. It is about an orphan, who came to live with a family. After a few years, an evil governess is hired to teach the orphan Seren Rhys with the family's child, Tomos. The evil governess cunningly deceived the whole family... almost the whole family. Seren discovers her evil and calls for the clockwork crow, an old crow who is a sorcerer trapped in a crow's body. They then act upon what the has happened and remove the governess permanently from the house.
