The stunning new 10+ story from the bestselling and award-winning author of TIME TRAVELLING WITH A HAMSTER, for anyone who loved the humour of WALL-E, the action of STAR WARS and the deeply touching emotion of ET.

A small village in the wilds of Northumberland is rocked by the disappearance of twelve-year-old Tammy. Only her twin brother, Ethan, knows she is safe – and the extraordinary truth of where she is. It is a secret he must keep, or risk never seeing her again. But that doesn’t mean he’s going to give up. Together with his friend Iggy and the mysterious (and very hairy) Hellyann, Ethan teams up with a spaceship called Philip, and Suzy the trained chicken, for a nail-biting chase to get his sister back… that will take him further than anyone has ever been before. A remarkable story of sibling connection, friendship and interstellar adventure from the author Kiran Millwood Hargrave called “one of my favourite middle grade writers”.

I found this book very boring because it didn't keep me interested to find out the rest of the book. I much prefer the 1,000 year old boy.

Ross Welford has always and still is a brilliant author and this book is no less. A wacky yet believable story of aliens, police, close encounters and panicked escapes kept me on edge reading this. I'd definately recommend this to another person.

I liked this book because it was exciting. I found it interesting how they revealed the story a bit at a time. It was sad near the end but it had a good ending. I would recommend it to people who like action, sci-fi, funny stories, and emotional stories.

~ A small village is rocked by the disappearance of Tamara (Tammy) Tait, 12. Only her twin brother, Ethan, knows she is safe - and the extraordinary truth of where she is. It is a secret he must keep, or risk never seeing her again.

But that doesn’t mean he’s going to give up.

Together with his friend Iggy and the mysterious (and very hairy) Hellyann, Ethan is about to go on a nail-biting chase to get his twin sister, his other half, back… that will take him further than anyone has ever been before. ~

This is a remarkable story of family, friendship, and interstellar adventure. This book I’d so good! This is only the second book that I’ve read by Ross Welford, and even though I’ve only been reading his books for the past week I’m in love! He’s an amazing author, he really is! I picked this book up at the library as it’s in the theme of the Summer Reading Challenge 2022 (the gadgeteers), and so is Ross Welford’s other book, “Into the Sideways World”, that I’ve read 3 days ago, right before starting this book. I’d recommend it to anyone over 9 who’s a confident reader! It’s perfect to read right now and have it count towards your Summer Reading Challenge, since it is in the theme, but you can also read it at any other time too of course! If anyone’s wondering, this book has 375 pages and it took me 3 days to read. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries, and / or is interested in aliens, interstellar travel, different planets, and just Space in general! I’ve really fallen in love with Ross Welford’s books and will definitely read more of them!

Happy reading!

Xx

I hated this book because it wasn't moving. They kept on lagging around the fact that Tammy (a 12-year old) went missing.I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

This book was engaging as it described the world from an alien's perspective. My favourite character was the alien, Hellyann, as she helped the main character (Ethan) find his sister who was abducted by aliens for a museum exhibit on the aliens' planet. I would recommend this book to my sister and friends as it is an exciting read with lots of action.

With intriguing twists from start to finish, this story is a real roller coaster of emotions. It warmed my heart and filled my head with wonder! A fast, funny and really satisfying read that sparks your imagination

It was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. My favourite character was Suzy the chicken because she was funny! I would recommend this books to anyone who likes space.

09 Aug 2021

I liked this book because lots of the books I read are mysteries like The London Eye Mystery or The Graveyard Riddle, and this book was another mystery. My favorite character is Suzy because most authors don't make chickens as characters, and Suzy is a chicken.

I thought it was amazing but it could have better.

Because at the start you don’t know who or what taken Tammy and where she got taken.

I loved this book, as it makes you ask yourself, what if aliens did exist? My favorite character was Iggy, as he was always confident and faced his fears. I would definitely recommend it.

This should more accurately be called The Kid Who Went To Space rather than 'The Kid Who Came From Space', but it is classic Ross Welford. In his usual style, he's added a gently scifi spin to an otherwise contemporary story. In this case, we have a missing person mystery with added aliens.

The story is told through two points of view. Ethan and Hellyann. Ethan's twin sister, Tammy, has gone missing from their home in the village of Kielder, Northumbria. It's Christmas, it's cold and snowing, and the only clue is a strange noise Ethan heard when he found her bike beside the road. The police are involved, the whole village is searching for her, but there's no sign of Tammy anywhere.

Then Ethan and his friend, Iggy, have a strange encounter with an invisible craft and the mysterious Hellyann. Could Tammy really have been abducted by aliens?

A heart-warming story for KS2/3 about the importance of family, love, and always doing your best.
