This was a brilliant book because it involved history and a fiction story. It kept me interested the whole way through.
An engaging piece of historical fiction, The Titanic Detective Agency transports the reader to the 'unsinkable ship' as seen through the eyes of children aboard it. Inspired by real-life passengers, Littleson creatively weaves true accounts and mysteries together with fictionalised friendships and escapades. It provides an accessible gateway to learning about the events of the Titanic's singular voyage and a relatable way to discuss the impact it had on those who traveled on the ship. I would recommend this book to those who are interested in the history of the Titanic or who enjoy mystery novels.
It was very good
It is a story about the titanic ship
For some reason, I've never wanted to read anything, fiction or non-fiction, based on the Titanic disaster. When I decided to read this book, I was certainly pushing myself out of my comfort zone but I'm very glad I did. I love the author's style and the weaving of fact and fiction never jarred or felt forced. A really interesting read.
I’m fascinated by anything related to the Titanic. Such a tragedy. I loved this story, giving names and statistics real stories. This followed three families, two main characters on that fateful journey. I thought the sinking was handled sensitively but the author stayed true to the horrors of what happened.
I was really surprised to find the afterwards, in which the lives of the main characters were detailed as they lived with what had happened. Again, not all fairy happy endings. Wonderful book for y5/6!
Great book to sit alongside oceans topic, or Great Events of the 20th Century. Will be sharing it with my year 5s in September. Great question would be ‘Does knowledge of what happened add excitement to the dates on each chapter? Also, loved the photos and history at the end of the book.
