This book inspires me, Katherine was very clever girl
This book was EXCELLENT!! I love maths and when Katherine was a little girl, she looked like me too! I am so happy and mummy told me she is a REAL lady and loves space and maths and teaching, I want to be just like Katherine and stay curious and keep finding out about new things and I LOVE MATHS! *Mummy said she will buy me this book for my birthday next month *YAY!*
I thought it was a very good book. It was about Katherine Johnson's story about how she learnt to put astronauts on the moon. It was factual but how she worked was like it was a fiction book. My favourite character is Katherine because of her determination to get into Langley and put astronauts on the moon. It interested me because of how smart Katherine was in school and when putting people on the moon. I would recommend it to fans of Katherine Johnson.
It is a good book that really sums up the past on who sent the first spacecraft to the moon in great perspective.
It sounds like she was a mathematician and she shouldn’t have been a teacher she should’ve been a mathsquizzet.
It told me do n ot ever give up or else you cannot achive your goal.
I really like how Katherine did stuff - she saved the spaceship! I would recommend this book to someone else.
it is about science
It was a very enjoyable book that taught me a lot. I found it very interesting as I enjoy learning about space!
It's a factual book about a girl named Katherine who loves numbers and maths and aims to become a research mathematician. The book talks about the Universe and space and how she achieves her dreams
Great book for a number of issues: race, gender, overcoming adversity and feminism. Fascinating biography about Katherine Johnson and her work. My year 6 kids were fascinated by this book.
I thought this was good.the girl Who make the right
A lovely illustrated book highlighting the amazing work of Katherine. A black woman in USA showing perseverance, courage and resilience to go for what she wanted.
I’m sure this book will be appreciated by my lks2 children, especially as we look at the life of Nelson Mandela.
This is such an inspirational book. 👏 It shows that if you keep going your race and gender will not stop you from following your dreams. Ask lots of questions to build your knowledge and never give up. A simple book to read with lots of information. Wow what a woman who still credits others for her success. A great example to all that teamwork pays dividends.
It tells about space and being fair with all the people and girls.
Katherine wasn't treated very well at school because she was black. When Katherine was at work and she was desperate for the toilet, her boss told her to go home to use the toilet even when she need it a lot. Katherine was so angry she shouted at the boss. Then Katherine became very popular now because she saved Apollo 13 from crashing. This story tells us not to judge people because of their appearance and you should all treat everyone all the respect that you want to have
I enjoyed this book, Katherine was very clever and helped to put people on the moon.
A good book to raise awareness of diversity and differences. Good discussion points.
I liked when she had to work out all the sums to get the astronauts to the moon. This book is special because its the real story of how Katherine helped astronauts get to the moon. She was great at maths so she was able to work out the sums.
Watched the film and thoroughly enjoyed it.
This book is a good read and clearly explains the barriers faced not only by women, but by women of colour.
This was really good factual book. I was surprised that because of her skin she couldn't go to any school, but she is really inspiring for me as Math is my favourite subject.
If you have watched the film ‘Hidden Figures’ you will know the story of Katherine Johnson and this beautifully illustrated picture book re-tells her story for children. This excellent book is based on the life and achievements of Katherine Johnson. She was a young African-American who was exceptional at maths but was faced with limited opportunities because of her race and gender. The book shares how her father supported her to go to high school and how she became integral to the NASA space missions and her calculations enabled Apollo 13 to return safely. Katherine is inspirational and shows that if you work hard even with challenges and follow your dreams, amazing things can happen. I can’t wait to read this to my class. I’m hoping it will inspire them, for the girls to see science and maths differently and to show all the children that even though they may face challenges they shouldn’t give up.
This book is amazing. Katharine’s dad has to move the family to another town so that Katherine can go to high school. She works for NASA and was a teacher too.
This is a non-Fiction book about a young girl called Katherine who achieved her dream of becoming a mathematician at a time when it was difficult for African American women to do so.
It was an absolute amazing book for young girls!
It is a non fiction book, and non fiction books is what you learn from. I like it and love it and recommend it!
I didn't know maths had something to do with space
