Magic, adventure, and a whole new world is waiting to be discovered! The perfect series for adventurers aged 9+ and fans of Michelle Harrison, Piers Torday and Jamie Littler. The Unmapped Chronicles will not only leave children entertained, but will also empower them to battle climate change and environmental issues.
’Adventures are unpredictable and often terribly badly behaved – a bit like pickled onions if you’ve ever tried to fork one on a plate – but they have a way of unlocking people and turning them upside down so that all the astonishing things fizzing around inside them start to tumble out…’
Eleven-year-old Casper Tock hates risks, is allergic to adventures and shudders at the thought of unpredictable events. So, it comes as a nasty shock to him when he accidentally stumbles into Rumblestar, an Unmapped Kingdom full of magical beasts.
All Casper wants is to find a way home, but Rumblestar is in trouble. An evil harpy called Morg is sending her followers, the Midnights, into the kingdom to wreak havoc and pave the way for her to steal the Unmapped magic for herself. But Casper cannot turn a blind eye because the future of his own world, he discovers, is bound up with that of the Unmapped Kingdoms.
And so, together with Utterly Thankless, a girl who hates rules and is allergic to behaving, and her miniature dragon, Arlo, Casper embarks upon an adventure full of cloud giants, storm ogres and drizzle hags. Can he, Utterly and Arlo, the unlikeliest of heroes, save the Unmapped Kingdoms and our world from the clutches of Morg and her Midnights?

Eventually got around to reading this Christmas gift. First time I've read anything by this author and loved it.
A great mystery adventure with many magical moments. With the most unlikely heros and creature companions. A great story !
I love this book! Its so adventurous; I was sat at the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down.I would recommend this book to everybody who loves adventure books.
Good
I liked Casper because he learnt to stand up for himself and stopped hiding away from everyone later in the book.
Not the best book ever but still quite good.
An all-time favourite of mine. I still remember reading it even to this day.
Great book taking you to new worlds. Written so well you're transported to new places within your imagination
This story was a fiction story and my favourite character was the little dragon called Arlo. I would recommend this book to my friends to read too.
Too complicated for me and not my type of book
Wonderful children's fiction; if you like an adventure, then this is perfect.
There are other books in the series with similar adventures.
I absolutely loved it it was amazing everyone should read it
This was an absolutely amazing story I loved every second of reading this book.
It was ok not the best of books but fine enough for a 4. Full of magic adventure and friendship this book is meh
My favourite character was Arlo because he was so cute and helped the main characters a lot.
This is a book full of magic, adventure and friendship.
This world is practically impossible and yet completely believable. A joy to read.
It was a very intriguing book and made me excited to read on!
Magic kingdoms!!! Magic hot air balloons!!! Monsters!!! Amazing!!!
This is now one of my favourite books. I would definitely recommend this book to people that like adventure books.
It was thrilling and fun. I liked the personality of the giants, being peaceful and serene, yet possessing great power and weapons.
This was a very good book! I loved the adventures, magical creatures/Lands and the friendships in it! My favourite character was Utterly, as I think she was fiesty but was also very brave to tell about the past and accept friendship. She knew what mattered most. A great read from a great author! Recommend for ages 10+
My favourite character was Utterly because she is really brave and she stands up to people who get in her way. She never stops working hard. This was a great adventure and I read this before Ever Dark but it still made sense. I'm looking forward to reading the next book, Jungle Drop! I would definitely recommend this.
Fantastic magic and adventure filled with great characters and wonderful story telling.
This book was absolutely great, and had a wonderful middle and ending. You would have to get the series though, because I know that with me, I really want to read the series instead of just reading the first one. Would definitely recommend for those who like adventure and fiction.
I thought the book was enchanting. My favourite character in the story was Arlo, a tiny dragon whose owner is Utterly Thankless. I liked that he always came to her rescue and supplied her with the right answers whenever she needed them. I would recommend this book to 8-10 year-olds.
I’d recommend this to anyone who likes adventures with emotion! Though I rated it 5/5 really I’d give it 6!
I liked Utterly Thankless and Casper Tock.
I would recommend this book to one of my classmates or a teacher who likes fantasy.
What an adventure!
A slow start with a confusing prologue but once I got going it all made sense!
Casper was a reluctant hero but the friendship that formed between him and Utterly was lovely.
Y5+ readers
Good class read for Y6
I enjoyed joining Casper on his adventure.
The magical settings of Rumblestar and The Beyond were beautifully described and helped me imagine every twist and turn of Casper and Utterly's mission to save Rumblestar from Morg and her army of midnights with the help of Arlo the miniature dragon.
This is a tale of friendship and overcoming fears.
It reminded me a little of The Wizard of Oz.
Lovely adventure story that really develops characters well. You want the main characters to succeed, which is always a sign of a good book.
