Part ghost story, part Nordic thriller – this is a twisty, tense and spooky YA debut, perfect for fans of CORALINE and Michelle Paver.

It was good, as it was scary but I couldn't stop reading it - each chapter made me want to read more. The ending didn't tell you what would happen after the story, so you could imagine what happens next.
I chose this book due to it featuring elements of Norse mythology. It is an interesting read and a young adult's title. I would recommend it to children 11+ as some of the themes and language are suited to older readers.
I was drawn to the cover of this book - great artwork. The story is a slightly odd mix of a teen romance set in current day Norway and strange going-ons inspired by Norse myth. I wasn't as drawn into the fantasy elements as I'd hoped and consequently didn't find the 'scary' sections particularly effective. But I enjoyed the setting, the burgeoning relationship and some of the messages from the book. A good book to recommend if pupils are studying myths or ghosts.
