Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne is a classic adventure novel that follows the determined Phileas Fogg and his loyal servant, Passepartout, as they attempt to travel around the world in just eighty days to win a daring bet. The story is filled with excitement, unexpected challenges, and clever problem-solving, celebrating perseverance, courage, and the thrill of exploration.
I enjoyed this story as an audiobook. It was a good classic to listen to, however, there are many aspects that have aged poorly, especially when the story centred on indigenous people from a very colonist/white-sided historical perspective. This was very true when the story traveled through America, India and Asia.
There were also instances of what we would now consider animal cruelty.
All this does present a good opportunity for discussion with older primary readers about the differences in perspectives from the past and in the present. Right and wrong. There is a lot to be considered.
It was alright
I like this book
Loved it!!
A wonderful classical published in 1872! I would highly recommend this book to any adventure lovers!
This book is a lovely story about a man who travels around the world along with his companion.Along the way they meet man different things including a woman from India. My favourite person was his assistant.I would recommend this as it is highly interesting
I liked this book because it had lots of facts about the world, even though it was fiction!
I thought that phileas fogg was going to be married.
I like the characters because they were daring and clever and they never gave up and I also have a question. Is it true that when a prince dies does the wife have to die to?
I really enjoyed the events in this book and how they explain the traditions in each country.
I loved Phileas Fogg as he was so cool and collected, and he won the wager.
I would recommend this book to any lover of adventure stories.
I liked fogg best. It was interesting because it’s about travelling the world in 80 days.
I would recommend it to my Dad
the book was nice but it was missing a bit of suspense. wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
Good.
Awesome.
Not perfect, but perfect
It was good but the language was a bit old fashioned
Full of adventure. I had some doubts about the book initially but it was great in the end.
Englishman Phileas Foggsets out with his brave servant Passepartout, and an Indian beauty named Aouda to travel the world in eighty days and beat fogs 20,000 bet .They use elephant, sled, boat, train, yacht, and ox, but can they beat the clock? Worse still, will they be fre of the cunning detective, eager to suspect and arrest fogg allegedly over a theft...
This book was very interesting, but something was missing for me, I think that the author could have added something interesting more to the story. I think it was very clever that the author made the travellers think that they had come to England on the wrong date, and Even though Mr Fogg was about to lose his fortune, Aouda still wanted to marry him. Passepartout is very loyal and Mr Fogg punched Mr Fix. Mr Fogg got his fortune!
It was okay.
How much money did the guy actually lose?
the book was OK but i still liked it but i recommend it it was good
A great classic. Story of two travellers who get caught up in all sorts of mystery’s.
It is a thrilling and adventurous book! It contains all kinds of mischief, fun, thrill, and suspense. And the best part was that when Phileas Fogg realized that he had one more day after returning due to time zones of the world.
I thought this book was funny because Fix's plans always went wrong. My favourite character was Passepartout because he joined The long noses.I would recommend it to you because it is captivating.
A brilliant book to read. I liked how Phileas Fogg managed to travel the world in only eighty days. It gives information about the different countries of the world too.
