But there is no time to overcome their mutual shock – the ancient bones spark a modern murder, and Ruth must discover what secrets there are in Castello degli Angeli that someone would kill to protect

We're fans of Elly Griffiths' series about forensic archaeologist, Ruth Galloway. The novels are usually set in Norfolk, but this one finds Ruth in Italy where she is enjoying a working holiday, helping on an archaeological dig in a picturesque town. There are secrets from WW2 and a modern-day murder to solve. We wouldn't say this is the best story in this series because it isn’t a very meaty mystery and the plot is rather tangled. Nonetheless we still enjoyed it and would recommend the series.
