Enter the Wundrous world of Morrigan Crow and Nevermoor – the most fantastical children’s series of the year. Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she’s blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks – and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her eleventh birthday. But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor. It’s then that Morrigan discovers Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city’s most prestigious organisation: the Wundrous Society. In order to join, she must compete in four difficult and dangerous trials against hundreds of other children, each boasting an extraordinary talent that sets them apart – an extraordinary talent that Morrigan insists she does not have. To stay in the safety of Nevermoor for good, Morrigan will need to find a way to pass the tests – or she’ll have to leave the city and confront her deadly fate once and for all.
Perfect for fans of the Harry Potter series and His Dark Materials, this series takes readers into an extraordinary world, setting hope and imagination alive.
Reviews
I enjoyed the character of Morrigan. She was brave, rebellious but also a very likeable character. She showed incredible resolve when the people around her appeared to have abandoned her and all hope was lost.
My favourite character is Jupiter North. He is (as described in the next book) a ginger-bearded madman. As Morrigan Crow forms unlikely friendships, she has to complete a series of challenges in order to prove herself worthy to the Wondrous Society. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy, adventure, mystery and (most of all) comedy!!!
This book is the start of an adventure full of magic, giant cats and things that make no sense. Will Morrigan Crow get admitted into the wundrous society of she doesn't even know what her knack is?
Well written book with a range of relatable characters. Magic and world building was enjoyable to read too. Starts out on the darker side but doesn’t stay dark for long due to the entrance of character and the main character taking a portal to a different world.
I have really enjoyed this book because it was a book that contained thriller suspense comedy and mystery .I was very shocked when mr Jones turned out to be the wundersmith I was also bursting to know what talent Morrigan but laughed when Jupiter put his head to the elders head and made morrigan’s name at the top of the board
amazing
Really good. Mysterious, magical, but most of all marvellous! Book full of secrets and adventure, all genders will be stunned by the magnificence of this book
I liked how nevermoor is a wonderful place filled with magic.
I loved this book from start to finish - I read it straight through twice. Morrigan is a likeable character and her adventures were so exciting I couldn't stop reading.

It wasn’t very interesting
Good fantasy book full of magic and adventure. I recommend this book to anyone aged 8 or above.
it was very funny and exiting and intriguing
We listened to this book in the car, the writer is extremely good and the narrator made all the voices sound real and funny.
I like it very much
This book was quite interesting and fun. One point you would be glued to the book, the other moment you would sitting there confused, What would happen next? Jessica Townsend really has a good imagination that brought the book to life for me. This book was awesome, I would recommend it to children aged 8 to 12. My fav character is Morrigan and Dame Chanda !
Best book ever!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this book!

amazig
My youngest son and I loved this book that I read yo him. It kept us hooked all the way through.
This is one of my all time favourite books! I absolutely love the new world that Jessica Townsend creates. It is up there with Harry Potter. I would recommend this book to all Year 5 and above pupils.
It is a really nice book with a magical adventure and a very great twist.
I enjoyed the idea a little more than the pace of the book. The main character is great and her mentor is intriguing too. I didn´t so much like how it finished so abrubtly but, since reading the second one, which does have more of a tied up ending, I am quite invested!
This book was slow at the start but got incredible as I kept reading it. It is about a girl called Morrigan Crow who is cursed to die on her 11th birthday. My favourite character is all of them. I recommend this book to anyone who loves MYSTERY!
Amazing book!
I first chose this book as it had on the cover a slight resemblance to Mary poppins. As I started to read I soon realised it wasn’t and again had a magic mystery vibe. I won’t give the story away but I would recommend to anyone.
