Phizzwhizzing new cover look and branding for the World’s NUMBER ONE Storyteller!
This is the wonderful and warm-hearted Roald Dahl classic, Esio Trot.

Mr Hoppy really loves his neighbour Mrs Silver, and Mrs Silver really loves her tortoise, Alfie. One day Mrs Silver asks Mr Hoppy how to make Alfie grow, and suddenly Mr Hoppy knows the way to win her heart. With the help of a magical spell and some cabbage leaves, can Mr Hoppy be happy at last?

And now you can listen to ESIO TROT ( with THE GIRAFFE AND THE PELLY AND ME) and other Roald Dahl audiobooks read by some very famous voices, including Kate Winslet and Steven Fry – plus there are added squelchy sound effects from Pinewood Studios!

And look out for new Roald Dahl apps in the App store and Google Play- including the disgusting TWIT OR MISS! and HOUSE OF TWITS inspired by the revolting Twits.

This an all-time classic by the best author ever. I really enjoyed the tense moment of the tortoise swapping.

The three main characters are Mr Hoppy, Mrs Silver and Alfie the tortoise. Mrs Silver wants Alfie to grow bigger, so Mr Hoppy gives her a spell written in tortoise language, which is normal English backwards. I think Mr Hoppy was right to trick Mrs Silver because they were both happy in the end. Mr Hoppy married Mrs Silver, whom he loved, and Mrs Silver got the big tortoise she wanted.

Mr Hoppy buys hundreds of tortoises and makes a tool called the tortoise catcher. He swaps Alfie for a bigger tortoise. I like Mr Hoppy because he knows everything about tortoises.

I liked Alfie the turtle the best because he kept on eating lettuce

08 Aug 2026

I liked that Mr Hoppy and Mrs Silver got married, that was basically it. I didn’t like the fact that Esio Trot was just a poem, I thought the tortoise would be called Esio Trot, it was confusing. I would not recommend it to other people.
