It’s six months since Rob’s mum died and he moved to Florida. His dad won’t talk about her at all. ""Crying ain’t going to bring her back,"" he says. So Rob fills a suitcase in his mind with all his forbidden thoughts – the rash on his legs, the bullies at school – and keeps it tight shut. But when he finds a caged tiger deep in the woods, his whole life begins to change. That same day he meets Sistine Bailey, another outsider who’s bullied at school. She says they must set the tiger free – and when Rob imagines the tiger rising out of its cage, his suitcase begins to open…

Such a beautiful little book that deals with themes of grief and parental breakups. A very moving book. If used in class it should be good for helping children develop empathy for others.

It was about animals and a tiger was trapped in a cage and a boy and girl came to set it free.
A sweet and fairly simple story... Main character is grieving and not having best time at school. Good to explore metaphors and characterization and some pretty American dialect! Because of Winn-Dixie is probably a stronger book but this is nonetheless a nice tale
I was intrigued by the misty weather in the forest . There's a tiger locked in the woods . A boy named Bob notices him when he goes out for a walk . He's always giving her food . He opens the door to the cage , thinking that one day he must free her . Unbeknownst to him , his father shoots Tiger when he sees him .
I think it was a very touching story.
I liked Sistine the best because she was so wild and free.
I think I would recommend it.
