For readers who loved Wonder and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time this extraordinary debut will make you laugh and cry.
A story that crosses time and generations, for adventure-loving readers young and old. “My dad died twice. Once when he was thirty nine and again four years later when he was twelve.” On Al Chaudhury’s twelfth birthday his beloved Grandpa Byron gives him a letter from Al’s late father. In it Al receives a mission: travel back to 1984 in a secret time machine and save his father’s life. Al soon discovers that time travel requires daring and imagination. It also requires lies, theft, setting his school on fire and ignoring philosophical advice from Grandpa Byron. All without losing his pet hamster, Alan Shearer… Time Travelling With a Hamster is a funny, heart-warming race-against-time – and across generations – adventure that you will won’t be able to put down. This book is very good, but quite emotional reading.
An thrilling and funny book.
It was AMAZING! I loved every page ! It kept me on the edge of my seat and it had a wide variety of emotions tucked in between the pages.I will definitely recommend this to friends and family!
This book makes you think a lot and I have enjoyed reading it however I thought that the book itself was too long .
Very fun and unique back where the story swivels around
Loved this story, Twists and turns, anything could happen!
I loved the book as the girl time traveIIed from her dads time machine. My favourite character was the hampster. I would recommend this book to someone.
i like how he tries to make his dad alive again by using the time machine.
Super exiting because the main character is doing many dangerous things that include the police and then manages a narrow escape.
Best book that I've ever read!
This is a super fun book with relatable characters - I especially liked the Grandpa character and the past being set in the 1980's. I felt that maybe some of the science of time travel was a lot to take in, but this did not deject from such a great emotional story. I want to read more of Welford’s stories. I will recommend to Years 5 and 6, onwards.
I love hamsters so I enjoyed this but it was too long!
I would recommend it. Every page makes you want to read more and it has lots of detail though can be a bit confusing.
It was a good book, although you have to be quite intelligent to understand how it works but aside from that i would recommend it to any child over 9.
I would definitely recommend it because it is such a good read and really drags u along with the story so u feel as I f u saw it happening
This book was extraordinary. It’s about a boy whose dad died and his dad had a Time Machine. His son went on the Time Machine to try and save his dad from what killed him.
My favourite character was the main character Al because he was really kind to his friends and his hamster.
I would definitely recommend this book.
It was very interesting and funny
Good book -however not 5 star worthy. Yes I would 75% recommend this book
Amazing
I choose this book because I was intrigued by the title and I wasn’t disappointed. Great characters , I especially liked Grandpa ,humour and adventure . This would make a great class read the plot moves quickly with plenty of twists to keep the reader guessing .
I very much enjoyed the main character and funny elements to some of his decision making. I thought the title was a tad misleading as actually the hamster doesn’t really play a fundamental part at all and the story probably could have still happened without it. I felt like the ending could have gone one of two ways but I always enjoy a happy ending so I think you would be left feeling satisfied at the end.
LOVE IT!
I would recommend it to someone who loves thinking about the future and past or someone who loves the future and past and time machines or someone who loves adventures!
It is an awesome book and I would recommend it.
How they went back in time and saved his dad.
Favourite character is stokoe
This is one of my favourite books!
I rated this book 4/5 because it has lots of adventure but I think it needs to be a bit funnier because your time travelling with a hamster! I think the hamster should wreck havoc to make it funnier! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, time travel and hamsters!
