Heartwarming story set in post-war Poland. Little Lucja’s Grandpa Feliks has seen off the German army, and the Communists, and now he is looking forward to a long and peaceful retirement. He plans to begin with a tasty Christmas Eve dinner of carp. But when the carp arrives alive and takes up residence in the bathtub and Lucja’s heart, has Grandpa Feliks finally met his match? High quality cream paper and a special easy to read font ensure a smooth read for all.

It was ok I liked it.
I like that the family did not eat the fish although they were poor and hungry
You mustn't always get what you want.
I liked how Grandpa loved Lucja so much that he gave up his happiness for hers. This was a story set in Poland. My daddy catches carp but he doesn’t eat them. I found it interest that some cultures do eat them.
It was fun to read, not needing to put all your energy on it.
I liked the part when she made friends with the fish because I would love to.
My favourite character was Lucja. Because she liked and cared about the fish very much.
The character I didn’t like was Grandpa Felix because he wanted to put the fish in the oven!
It was very fun and addicting to read, would recommend!
its messie and has got to moutch long words in it.
It was a good book
I wasn't very interested in this book. It just didn't spark my interest.
I liked the bit when she puts him in the bathtub
This was much harder works so was difficult.
I thought it was a fiction book. If it was a fiction book I would like Lucja because she took care of a little fish. I would recommend this book to Jamie because he likes fish.
A very short story in Barrington Stokes' Little Gem series. Set in Poland under Communist rule, Grandpa Feliks is determined to have the traditional Christmas carp, but it arrives alive and young Lucja befriends it. A gentle and poignant tale with a moral and lots to discuss with younger readers.
I love this but but I think it’s just the words are just a bit too big so I would recommend it to 3 to 4-year-olds or maybe 5,6,7
My thought was that if you have a golden fish, it should be kept in an aquarium not bathtub. The book is a fiction and my best character is Lucja. My most interesting part was when Lucja stopped grandpa Feliks from cooking the fish. I recommend this book because it's very funny,it made me laugh loud while I was reading.
I like but not to much
I really enjoyed reading this book and I think it is quite sweet that the girl became friends with the fish was supposed to eat and in the end she doesn't to eat it and I also recommend this book.
Good
I didn't really like this story as much as the other ones. But I do like it a little.
There were some words I didn't know what they mean ,but otherwise it was excellent !
A book about a little girl trying to save a fish at Christmas.A small book with lots of illustrations and an unusual storyline.
This book is fiction.I liked Lucja because she has a friend that is a fish.It interested me because Grandpa Feliks says that Lucja can not have Mr Fishy.I would recommend this book to someone because it is funny when Lucja asked why people has red noses.
I Think this was a nice book, a good story. It is a fiction book, my favorite person in this book was Lucja. It is a story about a fish that the family was supose to have for dinner and Lucja suddenly decided to keep it as a pet in a bathtub. I would recommend it to a friend because I liked it very much
This book was good I didn't enjoy it as much as the other books.
This book was good because the story was interesting
Excellent as a fish in my bathtub!
I learnt lots of names of fish. I wouldn't like fish for Christmas dinner!
I like it when the fish was saved in the end and it stayed in the bathtub until April.
