WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FEEL TRULY ALIVE?

Aged 24, Matt Haig’s world caved in. He could see no way to go on living. This is the true story of how he came through crisis, triumphed over an illness that almost destroyed him and learned to live again.

A moving, funny and joyous exploration of how to live better, love better and feel more alive, Reasons to Stay Alive is more than a memoir. It is a book about making the most of your time on earth.

""I wrote this book because the oldest clichés remain the truest. Time heals. The bottom of the valley never provides the clearest view. The tunnel does have light at the end of it, even if we haven’t been able to see it . . . Words, just sometimes, really can set you free.""

I highly recommend this book for anyone that has suffered from a mental health illness or knows someone that is / has. The book is not just an insightful account of the author's mental health journey, but it also provides a view of the mental health crisis in current times. The author provides hope for those in a similar situation as well as a wealth of resources.

After 4 years of battling with depression and anxiety it was such a comfort to find a book that was able to comfort, reassure and understand me. The short chapters and easy narrative are perfect for a frazzled mind and allowed me to pick it up and put it down as and when I needed. I have only read it through once but am confident that it will become a night time companion on my bedside table.
