This is the classic story of the four March sisters – Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. Their story of their loves, problems and adventures is sometimes sad, often funny, but always charming.

This book was an emotional one, taking me through the whole range of emotions. The focus on family, relationships and growing up are what make it such a powerful and evocative and classic read. The version I read included the follow up 'good wives' as well.
The four sisters,Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, are all trying to become the 'little women' that they aspire to be. Each has differing characteristics and desires for the future. We read the book from Jo's perspective, who aims to be a successful writer and not be saddled with the life of an ordinary housewife in high society. She is a strong independent minded lead who softens a bit as the book progresses. Her older sister Meg shares some of these views of society, marrying for love, not money and in the book is sometimes struggling to make ends meet. Amy, has grand plans for how she will be successful and live an easy life after marrying a wealthy man. Beth is the family oriented one, caring deeply about marmee and forms a strong bond with their neighbour Mr Lawrence, who lost his daughter before the events of the book. Central to the story is Mr Lawrence's son Laurie, heavily interested in Jo throughout the book.
The growth and development of the characters as the book progresses is heartwarming and feels realistic rather than forced. It is a lovely book to read but is definitely for the older secondary reader who can appreciate the family dynamics and relationships more fully.

I liked that if you mixed all of the little women's feelings you'd get a girl called Junia which is not a popular name

Little Women is set in Massachusetts during the 1860s. It is based on the author's life growing up and covers many of the tragedies she faced throughout her childhood. My favourite character was Jo. I would highly recommend this.

Little Women is a story about four sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—who live with their mother, Marmee, while their father is away fighting in the Civil War. The book follows their lives as they grow up, face challenges, and learn important lessons about family, love, and kindness.

Meg is the oldest sister, and she’s responsible and caring. Jo is the second oldest. She’s very independent and a little mean sometimes. She loves reading and writing, and doesn’t like to follow the rules that society sets for girls. Beth is the third sister, and she’s very sweet and shy. She loves music and is always thinking of others. Amy is the youngest, and she likes art and wants to be a lady with good manners.

The story shows how the sisters support each other through tough times, like when they don’t have much money or when they face personal struggles. They have a close friendship with their neighbor, Laurie, who becomes almost like a brother to them. There are happy moments, like when they put on plays, and sad moments, like when Beth gets very sick.

I really liked Little Women because it’s about family and how important it is to stick together, no matter what happens. My favorite character is Jo because she’s brave, speaks her mind, and wants to be a writer, which I think is really cool. She’s not afraid to be different, and she cares deeply about her family.

I would definitely recommend Little Women to my friends, especially if they like stories about family and growing up. It’s an inspiring book that teaches you a lot about love, kindness, and being true to yourself. The characters feel like real people, and you get to see them grow and change throughout the story, which I think is really interesting.

I have read the Usborne version and I found the story very interesting. How different these 4 sisters are and how they behave. Also, how things worked at the time. I would recommend this book.

This book is about four sisters; Jo who is fierce and headstrong; Meg the eldest who is a strong leader; Amy who is vain, kind and sometimes selfish; Beth the youngest who is shy and kind. It shows the four sisters who support each other in difficult times. I would recommend this book because it is a story of hope and friendship.

I liked this book because of its gripping tale and despairing parts. It is a great read for older readers but the language is tough to understand. I would like to thank Louisa May Alcott for this wonderful book, it certainly owns a place in my heart.

I enjoyed reading this book, but it was a little slow to start but very soon I got going with the story. The four sisters in the book (in age order) are Beth, Jo, Meg and Amy. My favourite character was Beth as she was the most responsible and kind.

I really enjoyed this book, as it was very interesting in a way that made me want to continue reading it right the way to the very end. I loved the fact that it expressed what different types of people experience and feel instead of focusing on the types that most people read about. As for the fact that I found the book such an amazing one to read, I would thoroughly recommend it, especially for anyone who may be experiencing a few tough times in life. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5, was because there are many words in which need the help of a dictionary to understand or mean different nowadays to what it is meant to mean in the time it was written. This means that some of the sentences that I read didn't make sense because I thought the words meant a different thing. Apart from that minor trouble, I would agree with most people I am sure in saying that this book is the work of a true writer.
To conclude this review, I would like to congratulate the author of this book (Louisa May Alcott) and say to anyone reading this, to read her book!

This book is set in around the period of the American Civil War and it is about four sisters and how being away from their sick father and the harsh events they go through affect their relationships. One of my favorite characters is Beth because she seems to always be the calm and reassuring sweet one in every part of the book, I also like Jo March because she does anything for her family and she enjoys many things I do such as Reading and Writing. I would recommend this story to anybody because it is a mixture of funny and confusing emotions.

Really Good Book

Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy found life to be unfair. Their family's poverty came in the way of their desires. However, within one year, each girl overcomes her difficulties, matures and gets a better position in life.

Little Women is a thought provoking book. From the characters' experiences, we can see how money can't buy happiness and that family is the most important of all.

It is a captivating story from start to finish; the characters are unique in their own way. Overall this book is incredible!
