I was delighted to find this because it’s Book 1 in the Roy Grace series, which now numbers 18 books. Published in 2005 it’s the scene-setter that starts to build Grace’s character and explains his back story. The case being investigated in this appears to be a stag night prank that’s gone horribly wrong, but there’s a whole lot more to that story than meets the eye. Read more...This is a thriller of a detective story. It is full of surprises. Like Edgar Allen Poe it speaks to some of our deepest fears and creates suspense in a very clever plot.
