Astra’s family are all snoring in their sleeping pods, but Astra is WIDE AWAKE. With her friend, Pilbeam, she goes off exploring and soon finds out the ship is in deep trouble. It’s been knocked off course and invaded by a gang of Poglites, an alien salvage crew searching for spoons.
But even the Poglites need Astra’s help when they discover something far more sinister lurking in the canteen… Sure, they’re cakes; but no one would describe them as sweet!
Another splendiferous adventure from dynamic duo, Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre.

Good
Oh my gosh this book was amazing. Astra is my favourite character because she is very brave and lives in a rocket ship. One of the best things is her nom O trom because she thought it was broken but actually it just wanted to serve cupcakes. She also had a sister who was a pest and was very mean. Age group for this book is people who read chapter books.
Very very funny
There’s lots and lots of cupcakes!
I love this cakey book
This book was fun to read as it kept me interested, because every chapter had a new new adventure to continue. I think it is cool that the author has made a book where humans go through space to another planet. My favourite character were the cakes as they were funny, cute and dangerous. I would recommend it to people in the age range of 7-12
Cakes in space ? Nomotron accidentally makes angry cakes and the pologrites try and steal them. ASTRA and her friend black horror have to help her to save the day . I loved it. Totally recommended
I love how everything was so fine and then not and then it was all fixed and it just had a way of saying “oh it’s all gonna get better” and then it just doesn’t, but it always ends well.
Its really good book, its full of imagination and true story so much fun to read.. its fun to read about Astra and drama
I love the premise of this book which is a future family being frozen so they can travel for 1000s of years to a new planet through space to their new home. Astra makes friends with a friendly robot just before being put to sleep she orders a fantastic cake from another robot but something goes wrong and she wakes up before arriving at her home and can't wake her family. She then discovers she wasn't specific enough when she ordered the cake and now their are killer cupcakes on the loose. A fun adventure story with a futuristic robot twist without feeling genuinely terrifying. A fun story.
I liked the nameless horror the most and at the start I found it really good but then I got a bit bored bit it was still good
I like the part when the nameless horror is actually good not bad like the pologites
The story is fun and scared. I like the robot named Pilbeam. I would recommend all of you.
This book is perfect for readers who love adventure and fun in one story. It also points out that you should’t just someone by their appearance. I would definitely recommend it!
Funny level: maximum
I fort it was quete good , I rate this book 3 out of 5. It is all about a girl couled Astra travilling in space to Nova Mundi , on the way Astra comes acros LIVE CAKES!
This book is a great way of engaging readers who love to dream about going into space.
She didn’t fall asleep!
I think this book was fabulous its got a good plot I think the idea of cakes eating you instead of us eating them is interesting.I love the idea of going to Nova Mundi and the alien poglites and how they invade ships.I like the idea of the sleep pods that cool you and how theres an escape button.
I liked reading it because it was good. I liked them fighting the giant cakes.
This is a brilliant, action-packed story featuring a girl and her friends. Full of monstrous cakes with teeth and aliens and a nameless horror.
I liked nomotron because when Astra asked him to make the ultimate cake he makes the ultimate cake and the monster cakes.
not my usual choice
I like the baby the best
would recommend to younger kids (<9)
This was very good because I like their books. My favourite character was Astra because she is the main character.
I loved it. Cakes are my favourite thing and a machine which can make anything you want? Well that's amazing.
This book is about cakes travelling to space even a robot malfunctions
This is a great book.
It was funny because the poglet captain said “you still think you can scare us with your cakes. We eat cakes for breakfast, well not really for breakfast, that would be weird, but we eat them for afternoon tea”
I liked this book because it was funny and exciting when characters could be eaten by flying cakes instead of the characters eating the cake.
first 1 i red - faboulous!!! i just do not think the title is appopiate for the book
