Dragons have invaded Crumbling Castle, and all of King Arthur’s knights are either on holiday or visiting their grannies. It’s a disaster!
Luckily, there’s a spare suit of armour and a very small boy called Ralph who’s willing to fill it. Together with Fortnight the Friday knight and Fossfiddle the wizard, Ralph sets out to defeat the fearsome fire-breathers.
But there’s a teeny weeny surprise in store . . .
Fourteen fantastically funny stories from master storyteller Sir Terry Pratchett, full of time travel and tortoises, monsters and mayhem!

This was my first Terry Pratchett book. So funny and I now want to read more!
funny and fun to read
The book made me intrigued and imaginative. I like Mr Christmas because when Mr Christmas went to work in the garden he wrote "Merry Christmas"out of flowers and even though the gardener was impressed Mr Christmas did not get the job. Yes I would recommend this book because they would enjoy it too.
I believe in dragons and I love Terry Pratchett’s work.
I liked the story was made and illustrated. It had very funny name such as Fortnight, Ralph and FossFiddle. Some parts made me laugh so hard. I can’t wait to read other stories.
Yes I’d recommend it.
My thought is that this book is about dragons at a castle. It was interesting to read the book.It was fiction my favourite character was Ralph thoughtful mind.It was not factual. It interested me because it was really funny and yes I would recommend it to someone because it is really funny and interesting.
Brilliant.
I found this book a bit difficult to understand. There are some pictures in it but I am not very keen on them. I would not recommend this book.
A bit like the Santa histories, just changed the sex of the characters the boy was a girl and the girl was a boy
This book was ok. I like some of the stories more than others. I would recommend this book to read before bed as there are lots of short stories so you could read one each night.
I liked this book because it was so full of humour
I like this book because there are 14 different stories.
My favorite character was Santa Claus because when he got a job at the zoo my favorite job was when he did the garden ring because he wrote merry Christmas
It’s not a favourite read but it’s good.
Didn't realise it was short stories. Some I enjoyed and some I didn't enjoy.
I liked all of the stories they were interesting.
Some of the stories were quite lengthy and after a while I got quite bored of them. Some of the others were really good. My favourite was When Father Christmas goes to the zoo.
I would recommend this to people who are good readers.
This book is a collection of short stories written by Terry Pratchett in his earlier writing days. Although the stories lack the detail and depth of his later novels, they are a fascinating insight into the developing mind of my favourite author. You can clearly see the wit, humour and inspirational characters that he writes so well. I particularly enjoyed reading the Carpet People short stories; I will definitely be reading the Carpet People novel again soon. This is a great set of stories to read aloud to children to introduce them to a great author, inspire them to write and show them you really can turn any idea into a great story.
It's so bad don't recommend
so funny i dropped my spoon while laughing!
I like this book because it has lots of short and funny stories. My favorite story was “The great Speck”.
A few of the stories were a bit confusing but I liked the one about the carpets.
This is a book of funny, adventurous short stories. My favourite stories were The Speck, The Carpet People and Dragons at Crumbling Castle. I highly recommend it for people who like books full of laughs.
Really enjoyed the stories and funny characters
This book was funny
It lost interest a lot but my favourite was The Santa Story.
A story for everyone in this selection of short stories. Dragons, aliens, cavemen and many more, all brought to life by Terry Pratchett with quips of humour. The stories are not too long so children can dip in and out as they like:
I thought it was an amazing book but it had a few down parts like in some parts there were a lot of mistypes but I would recommend the book to someone ells
This was a funny collection of stories; I particularly enjoyed the second story ‘Great Speck’ where tiny people live on a grain of dust, with 2 countries- Posra and Grabist. The King of Posra and the Duke of Grabist declared war on each other.
It’s got lots of different story in it but it is really funny
