Polly heard a CRASH downstairs. Was it a monster? NO! Was it a spider alien? NO!
It was a little puffin with a broken wing…

nice one
Sweet little book with gorgeous illustrations and good balance of text to pictures. I read the book with several Y1/2 classes. It will be interesting to see if anyone borrows it to read themselves… 🪶
I really love this one because the puffin is called Neil and that's my Grandad's name. I also like Polly because she looks after Neil very well and carefully.
A good short story.

It's just a good book in general so it was a good choice.
Polly and the puffin is a awesome book.Polly found a puffin with an injured wing . Polly cares for the puffin until it’s wing has healed.
This is an engaging story with wonderful illustrations (in the colour palette of a puffin!) followed by puffin-related recipes, jokes and activities, plus lots of interesting facts about puffins. Visually stimulating, this little book is jam-packed with entertainment; so much more than just a tale of a little girl and her rescued, pet puffin.
This was the first book I read in my project to read books written for children by authors who also write for adults. I recently enjoyed reading 'Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery' by Jenny Colgan. She writes in a familiar style - you really feel she is talking to you personally about mutual friends. Her characters and settings are beautifully drawn.
I liked the girl who cared for the puffin so much.

It was really good. I liked Polly because she was really kind. I liked the puffin because I like puffins. The book was quite sad because the puffin had a broken wing and also had to fly away someday. I would recommend this to my friends.
My favourite character was Neil, the puffin. I thought it was really, really funny.

I liked it because She was caring for the bird who had a very poorly, poorly wing.I would recommend it.
Polly is an enthusiastic young child who one day find’s a puffin. She names it Neil. When she go’s to the vets she find’s out she can only keep Neil ‘till his wing is better. Will Polly ever see Neil again?
