When the mysterious Nowhere Emporium arrives in Glasgow, orphan Daniel Holmes stumbles upon it quite by accident. Before long, the ‘shop from nowhere’ — and its owner, Mr Silver — draw Daniel into a breathtaking world of magic and enchantment.
Recruited as Mr Silver’s apprentice, Daniel learns the secrets of the Emporium’s vast labyrinth of passageways and rooms — rooms that contain wonders beyond anything Daniel has ever imagined.
But when Mr Silver disappears, and a shadow from the past threatens everything, the Emporium and all its wonders begin to crumble.
Can Daniel save his home, and his new friends, before the Nowhere Emporium is destroyed forever?
Ross MacKenzie unleashes a riot of imagination, colour and fantasy in this astonishing adventure, perfect for fans of Philip Pullman, Cornelia Funke and Neil Gaiman.

about a boy named daniel who traveled around the world in different times

This story is about an orphan named Daniel. He is chased by Spud Harper a bully and found himself in the Nowhere Emporium. He met Lucien Silver there and returned the day after. Lucien was surprised because no customer would ever return since he took a part of their imagination away. Then one day, Lucien went missing and he got help from Ellie (Lucien’s daughter). They find out secrets of her father and outwit an old ancestor called Vindictus Sharpe. My favourite character is Ellie. I would recommend it to someone who likes mysteries and magic. Who has creativity and imagination.

This is my class reading book and every chapter is amazing and ends with a cliffhanger. I love how Ross MacKenzie goes from an enchanting chapter about Daniel and Ellie to a flashback about Lucien Silver as a teenager. I liked Ellie the best. You should read this book, every page will leave you wanting for more!

Daniel lives in an orphanage. One day he is hiding from some bullies when he comes across a shop. It is called the Nowhere Emporium. The owner of the shop does not expect him to come back, when he does, the owner (Mr Silver) asks him if he wants to join him. The Nowhere Emporium runs on imagination and is filled with wonders. As Daniel becomes a member of staff at the Emporium, he has to keep wonders going and balance the horrible truth about Vindictus Sharpe as well as worrying about Mr Silver's health.

This magical, breathtaking story takes you to all periods of time. For this wondrous shop which is a miracle, is built entirely on pure magic. It's down to a chap called Mr Silver to run it but he is ageing and his enemy (Vindictus Sharpe) is getting closer to killing him and seizing the Nowhere Emporium. Though suddenly Silver finds an apprentice you goes by the name Daniel Holmes. Daniel can cast magic.

Fast forwarding to a few weeks later Sharpe has come. Daniel doesn't know it's him for Mr Silver has disappeared. Ellie, Silver's daughter (who is invisible) says he's danger though is ignored.

Can Daniel find Mr Silver? What will he face? Can he defeat Sharpe? What will happen? Read to find out!

A thrilling and engaging story set in a world of magic and wonder. Incredible, imaginative wonders which create magical images in the mind of the reader. It is a delight to see Daniel find a family whilst sharing his magical abilities with Mr Silver in The Nowhere Emporium. The villainous character of Vindictus Sharpe and past events which come back to visit Lucien leave plenty of cliff-hangers. The danger and climax is thrilling and enthralling. The characters are unique and complex and this adds to the wonder of the story. A wonderous story of fear and courage, life and death, bullying and friendship with a huge mix of creativity and imagination.

I LOVED this book it was full of mystery’s and it said you can go and bluck a hair out and they did get two and he kitted them in his head that’s crazy. My favourite character was this girl called Emily because she was super kind and sweet. I recommend this book to someone who loves mystery’s. This is a nonfiction book so it is made up. I loved this book. I would recommend reading it.

Intruiging

I like the book because Daniel the main character was from Glasgow, like me.
He was very brave to take on the evil Vandictus Sharpe.
What I liked was the changing settings of the emporium.
I would recommend this book to others because, although it was hard to follow the story at times, it has challenging words and is a very imaginative book with lots of descriptions.

What a fantastic book, especially for those of us teaching in Scottish schools! Ross Mackenzie’s wild imagination shines through and I hope I can use the book to get my class writing some wonders of their own!
The characters are amazing throughout but Daniel and Emily really encapsulate what a dynamic duo should be like in a children’s novel.
I will be lending this book to my class and looking out for the rest of the books in the trilogy!

A hugely imaginatibe story with wonderfully descriptive language. We follow the main character as he learns about his own abilities not only to create magical wonders but also how to form lasting meaningful relationships.
It's a story with all the classic elements of a good story: Mystery, magic, friendship and a nasty villain.
I'd highly recommend this to Primary aged children in Years 4+
