So much better than I expected. Really well written, great characters and genuine sense of unease and creepiness. Will definitely read on in the series.
The Screaming staircase is based around this one house that has way too many visitors (ghosts) and Lockwood and Co. have been chosen to sort it out. It was a brilliant read and I would recommend it to anyone that likes horror stories
I loved this book it was very good I couldn’t put the book down
I've read this 4 times.
Fantastic book and so much better than the Netflix series (which was really good). Great characters with real depth and a well imagined new world order.
A gripping introduction to the world of Lockwood & Co. Interesting narrator, I've already recommended the series to my own children and students.
Good book and perfect for mystery seekers.
I absolutely loved this book! At first it was a bit slow to start, but as the story unfolded, I started reading even more!
This book is about a small organisation of ghost hunters who go around London competing with other organizations for the best cases. When Lockwood hears about sights of a particularly strong shadow of a ghost he takes his two assistants, Lucy and George to investigate. Once destroying the source, the trio go to the local library and research about this ghost. They discover that this ghost was once a girl called Annie Ward and she was an actor a few years ago. The trio also found a necklace belonging to her. Then the trio also get invited to a haunted, ghost-infested house which was built in the late 1800s. The owner of the house forbid any flames to use against ghosts, and told Lockwood and Co. About the Screaming Staircase and the red room. They only have to survive a night in the haunted house and they will get paid handsomely. But will their other cases get in the way of this one? Will the trio ever finish finding out about Annie's death? Read the Screaming Staircase to find out!
This book was so exciting. It was funny in parts, and really scary or sad in others. I liked how it was set in our world, but with a difference: The problem.
I would recommend this book to people who either like gory books, adventure or action readers, and basically anyone who likes fiction and isn't scared of ghosts, who is maybe a tween or a teenager? So I think probably 10-15 as that's the age of most of the people in the book.
I enjoyed it
Really really good. Just really really good. End of.
It was ok I really enjoyed it because of all the cliffhangers I had in this book
The best series (along with Harry Potter) that I have ever read!! Throughout the whole book there was action and lots of different plots happening behind your back. A real spine tingler so I would'nt read it at night. Age - 10+
This is the best book ever because it draws you in and you never want to put it down!!
If you like a spinechilling read then this is the right book for you. Lockwood, George and Lucy, an epic team of ghosthunters try to solve the mystery of a powerful ghost. I'll leave the rest for you to discover...!
They should read this book because it is very imaginative, and if you like ghost stories that end in a cliffhanger (you have to read the sequel!), you will love this book!
Awesome
People who enjoy reading books that are adventurous and spooky should give this book a try.
Anthony Lockwood and his trusty workers Lucy Carlyle and George Cubbins have been asked to solve a problem and Mrs Hope's house. Lucy fins a ghost girl. When Lucy defeats the Ghost Girl Annie her Necklace is left behind. When Mr Fariax asks the agency to solve his problem at Combe Carey Hall, they have a great suprise. Mr Fariax wasn't asking Lockwood & Co to fix his ghost problem, instead he was afer the Necklace. He was the murder of Annie Ward.
I liked this book because it's very exciting and interesting to read. In this book one mystery leads to another.
I wish I could give this one 10 stars!!
