Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. This is such a book – a magical fable about learning to listen to your heart, read the omens strewn along life’s path and, above all, follow your dreams. Released on CD for the first time to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this modern classic.
This is the magical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who dreams of travelling the world in search of a worldly treasure as fabulous as any ever found. From his home in Spain he journeys to the markets of Tangiers, and from there into the Egyptian desert, where a fateful encounter with the alchemist awaits him With Paulo’s visionary blend of spirituality, magical realism and folklore, The Alchemist is a story with the power to inspire nations and change people’s lives. At last this charming tale of discovery, meaning and personal growth is available on CD. The audio enhances the fairy-tale quality of the story and is suitable for listeners of all ages. It is as much a motivational/personal development book as it is a great story. TweetReviews
It s a story about grow front experiences.
I love it.
I have to admit that has been my first Cohelo' s book, and I' ve loved it.
It can be easily classified as one of my favorite books.
The novel is about a young shepherd, Santiago, who leaves everything he has in order to follow his own destiny.
Traveling from Spain to Egypt to find a treasure , he meets several different characters , each of which , in a way or in another, teach him a moral lesson.
Cohelo's writing is easy, his vocabulary common and actual . In this way he manages to talk about philosophical topics without bother or weary the reader .
As far as I'm concerned I think there are three main ideas in the book.
The most important idea that transpires from the book is that everyone should perceived and realize his own destiny .
-" No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn't know it.-"
- "when you really want something the universe always conspired in your favor."-
Then, another great idea is that everyone, everything is part of " The soul of the World"
- " The desert will give you an understanding of the world; in fact, anything on the face of the earth will do that. You don't even have to understand the desert : all you have to do is contemplate a simple grain of sand and you will see in it all the marvels of creation."
" How do I immerse myself in the desert? "
"Listen to your heart . It knows all things because it came from the Soul of the World , and it will one day return there. -"
Finally, but not less important , Cohelo teaches us to live in the present to not mar any day .
-" I'm alive.
When I' m eating that is all I think about. If I'm on the march, I just concentrate on marching. If I have to fight , it will be just a good day to die as any other. Because I don't live in either my past or my future. I'm interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present you will be an happy man. You will see that there is life in the desert, and there are stars in the heavens , and that tribesman fight because they are part of the human race. Life will be a party for you , a grand festival, because life is the moment we are living right now."-
To conclude I have to admit that this book has completely changed my mind as only the great books do.
I recommend The Alchemist to everyone who enjoy philosophical books .
