The book that inspired Steven Spielberg’s Hollywood blockbuster movie and an internationally acclaimed stage show …it can only be Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse. In the deadly chaos of the First World War, one horse witnesses the reality of battle from both sides of the trenches. Bombarded by artillery, with bullets knocking riders from his back, Joey tells a powerful story of the truest friendships surviving in terrible times. The bedlam of battle had begun. All around me men cried and fell to the ground, and horses reared and screamed in an agony of fear and pain. The shells whined and roared overhead, and every explosion seemed like an earthquake to us. One horse has the seen the best and the worst of humanity. The power of war and the beauty of peace. This is his story. Former Children’s Laureate and award-winning author, Michael Morpurgo, has written nearly 100 books for children, many of them war stories. But none have become as famous as War Horse. Inspiring a long-running stage show and a box office film directed by Steven Spielberg, War Horse has become an international sensation. Read the book that started it all; the stunning wartime classic.

I really like this book and it was a good book and I recommend it to everyone and anyone
This is an emotional text that captures what I imagine could be that period of time well. I was utterly drawn into the characters and read it quickly as it was hard to put down.
It was a nice book about a horse that went to war
It was interesting reading a book from the perspective of a horse, I have never read a book like that before. My favourite character is Topthon because he was very strong and would never give up
Very good book
War horse was a really interesting book as you got to understand war from the perspective of a horse.
This was a great book about war and a horse who joins the war.

I loved this book! I especially loved the horses. It’s a very sad story but it is very beautiful!
A very nice book
Great but could use details
I thought it was a very sad story because how many horses and people died during the wars.
I liked Albert the most because of his reasons for fighting in the war.
I would recommend this book because it is a gripping enjoyable tale.
it was great
I thought the book was quite sad and moving at times but very exciting.
The author would leave a big question at the end of each chapter.
My favourite character was Joey because he will never give up on his targets.
I would recommend this book for 8 years old and above.
I loved how the story was told in a horse's point of view and how the war impacted people's lives and the story told me a lot about not just a person's problems during the war.
My favorite person is Joey, the horse, because he is a loyal, and a great fried to a lot of people. When Topthorn, his horse best friend, died joey stayed loyal to him and didn't leave his body till he had no choice. He didn't forget about Albert or his friends he had to leave behind.
Yes, I would recommend to someone else who likes horses and to learn about war.
It’s good like black beauty
Amazing, just amazing. I've been reading Michael Morpurgo's books for about 2 years now. His books are brilliant, I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 7. When someone recommend this to me, I thought about reading it and I did, I'm glad I read it
It was very intriguing I also liked the horse the best not the farmer it interested me because of the language he used I would recommend it to my mum well I did she loved it
This was an amazing, intriguing story of Joey, a horse and his adventures throughout WW1. It has a very powerful story, and the way it was told through Joey's point of view, it has more emphasis and gives a new understanding of the book and experience. There are some exciting, sad and boring parts and overall most parts were attention-seeking. I recommend this book for book lovers and 6/7+
Emotional and makes you feel empathetic
I really like this book. Its is tied first with Adolfus tips (a book you should read) it was fun but at the end felt a great deal of sadness this book really touched me. I really felt as if I was there in the flesh. Yet the bit I will remember most is the end a real sense if sadness and as I looked over the last page and the tear stains remained for I had cried from word to word. I recommend this to any one looking for new book or trying something new.
Any Michael Morpurdgo should read this. Delve
Into the life of a horse during the war!
It’s a pretty good book.maybe it would be a scary book for children any younger than 10 as it is a war. Maybe don’t read it at night as it is a bit scary. I would recommend it. It interested me because it was about horses I love horses. I liked almost all the characters.
i like it when joey is stuck in the wires and the people stop fighting to go and help the horse, it shows that there is still a but of humanity lefy in mankind
Just exceptional. Drawn in by the first few words. Well done Michael!
