Monkeys come to the rescue of a struggling family in this traditional tale from a Carnegie Medal winner. Tashi lives in a tiny village below the tea plantations where her mother earns a living. One day her mother falls ill, and Tashi must pick tea to earn the money for a doctor. But she is too small to reach the tender shoots and the cruel Overseer sends her away empty-handed. Tashi needs a miracle. Then, on the mountains high above the plantation where only monkeys live, something extraordinary happens that will change her life for ever…Based on a centuries-old legend of tea-picking monkeys, ""Cloud Tea Monkeys"" is a richly told tale full of vivid characters: a heartless Overseer, an enigmatic Royal Tea-Taster and, in a faraway land, an Empress with a liking for tea.

What a fabulous story. We used to use this in year 3 English lessons but it’s been moved to year 5 as there is so much to get out of it for writing. Really Beautifully written.
A beautiful book about a young girl and her sick mother’s journey from poverty into riches. A real understanding of what life is like for those working high up in the mountains picking tea. A lovely plot of how a young girl’s kindness towards the monkeys pays dividends in the end.
I read this book because it was recommended by school. I liked this book because it shows kindness. I really liked the illustrations.
This book in 3 words: Tea. Monkeys. Kindness
It was nice and interesting
I have read this many times but is always best the first time
I found out about a type of tea I didn't know about - and it was quite an interesting story
amazed
I will give this book a five because I was amazed when the tea collector said that no ones tea is good but then he saw Tashi's tea leaves and was amazed.
I liked that book. The monkeys were kind. They got Tashi cloud tea because she was crying as her mother was sick. She needed to get some money to pay for a doctor so the monkeys helped her. Cloud tea is yummy.
I think it was a real story set in India.
it was a but sad when Tashi's mother was ill. but it was a good ending.
