A baby is born in the humble backstreets of a nameless town. His mother, who is not wearing a wedding ring, dies soon after the birth and her child is given into the care of the local orphanage. Hardly an unusual story, and yet young Oliver Twist is by no means an ordinary boy. He will escape the drudgery of the workhouse, travel to London and be initiated into to a gang of petty crooks. He will find himself at the centre of a criminal plot and an infamous murder, the object of hope, fear, despair and unexpected goodness. This is the story peopled by thieves and prostitutes, coloured by violence and neglect, and redeemed by the innocence of one boy searching for a home.

Oliver Twist
I loved this book and of the Author has used not boring words some powerful words and making me feel like I need to read more of Charles dickings
My favourite character was Oliver Twist.I would recommend it to my teachers.
It was scary in some parts and happy in some parts and it just made me want to read more and more. I’d definitely recommend this.
It was a dramatic book, I liked the style, but I didn't really enjoy reading it.
I liked Oliver Twist because he was kind and didn't give up. I didn't Fagen, because he was rude and snobby.
Its an ok book! Its all about a boy who is an orphan and goes all around London looking and stuff! Until something bad happens but in the end he goes home with a man (who is very kind:D) called Mr Brownlow
I am loving this book because it really captured my attention

I Thought it was sad because people die and Oliver is not treated properly and Oliver's mun dies. I liked Oliver because he was brave to run away to London. i recommend this book to people who likes Charles Dickins books and people who like sad storys because the story is very sad.
I liked Oliver Twist character the best because he was good and he did not want to steal.
This book was a very good book and has given me more of an idea of what the Victorian age was
like. If you really love books set in the Victorian age, a book called ICE Monster by David Walliams is quiet good. The best part was the part when he was running away from the workhouse where he wanted some more food and that led up to the most famous quote of all 'Please sir, I want some more.'
I love this book!
My favourite character was Oliver. I felt sorry for Nancy who was shot by her husband Bill Sikes when she had done nothing wrong she was only helping Oliver.
My favourite character was Oliver. He was very determined with his goals.
This is one of the best books I have ever read! I am planning to read it again and again!
I like this book because it is very old.
I recomend this book to people who like old books.
I loved the book because it has a happy ending. I like Oliver as he is brave and Nancy as she is kind. I also like Mr. Brownlow as he is kind and loving. I would like all to read this book
The book was quite interesting, and it was very fascinating to know what life was like during the olden days.
Oliver Twist is an amazing book by Charles Dickens! I love all of Charles Dickens books, especially A Christmas Cracker
I love the book Oliver Twist as it opens a window to poor Victorians life; how even children had to work at a workhouse starving and in agony. Most of the children who worked in a workhouse were orphans and escaping was a dream for them. If a child was on the streets were targeted for gangs which included stealing.
I thought it was a great book to read. The character I liked the best was Oliver Twist. I would recommend it to someone else who I think would be interested in it.
This book is amazing for two reasons 1: it can come in a graphic novel version 2:the book is really lovely and it shows you what would of happend in the past if you were an orphan. It starts of when a boy is at an orphanage because his mum was dead and he didn't know where his dad was. Then, he was taken away on his 9th birthday to the orphanages owners best friend , after that he was sent away from there and he was left on the street. A couple of days later, he was found by some boys. Now the rest is up to you to read...
i recommend this book to over 10s.
good book by Charles dickens
This book shows children life for other children in the Victorian times I would recommend the child version because some of the pages have violent and scary images.
