I read the giver for my nineteenth-grade English class and I LOVED IT! TOP TEN OF BOOKS! It seems so real as if you were Jonas and you can see everything he is going through. I really liked every part about this and I'm not a huge reader. I read and listened to the audiobook when I didn't have time to sit down and read it but I recommended it. I understood about the pills, and release and lots of others (because I don't want to give it away.) so I think you could read this in 6th grade and beyond. I recommend reading the book first then watching the movie if you want to watch the movie just because you will know the characters more and the movie is a little more confusing and rushed but yeah. You should read it
