Pretend Guardian Readers

Meets on

Run by Joanna Pollard Library service

We formed in September 2003 as the Manchester group set up to judge the Guardian First Book Award. New members were added in December 2004 and December 2005 from that year's judging panels, and since then we have recruited members from amongst our friends. From a peak of ten, we now have five members - two of whom were in the original group, and have just recruited three more. We have read every genre of fiction and non-fiction throughout the last 8 years, although the focus has been on literary fiction. Books are chosen democratically. We meet around once a month in a pub in central Manchester on a Friday evening that's mutually convenient.
