Trumpington Road Reading Group

We are a diverse group of women who all live in the same street in East London. I started the reading group during last year's lockdown. A neighbour had started a Whatsapp group for the street and I asked if anybody would be interested in reading group. It began as an initiative to bring us together via reading and it has been incredibly successful. We have made friends and read some great books! We read one book every month and meet to discuss it on the last Monday of the month. Originally, we were meeting via Zoom but now, we take turns hosting in our homes or go to our local pub. We all take turns at choosing the book so everybody is equal and involved. We have just 2 rules, 1. You must read the book (in whatever format you prefer) 2. You must come to the meeting and talk about it. We have read some some non-fiction and some classic fiction but on the whole, we go for contemporary fiction. We have read a number of Booker shortlisted titles and one previous winner.
