Hawkesbury WI Reading Group

We are a group of ladies who live in the village. Our age range is from 50 to 80 plus. We have been running for about 12years and at present have 11 members, a few of us have been with the group since it started. We meet in members homes and discuss the books over a glass of wine and nibbles. At times our discussions are heated and eveyone gets a chance to express their view. At present we have never repeated an author and have covered everything from poetry to autobiographies, fiction to travel, world fiction to childrens books. We all contribute to suggestions as to what we should read getting ideas from radio,tv and book reveiws. We are lucky that within our area we have good support from our local libary, from which we can order books though occasionally we do buy a set. The library also puts on various events such as a quiz or a meet the author event which some of us try to attend. In order to join our group you have to be a member of the local WI.
